The nutritionist spoke about the benefits and dangers of pomegranate

Nutritionist Natalya Kruglova explained who should limit the consumption of pomegranate fruits and why.

“Pomegranate contains vitamin K, folic acid and potassium. In addition, it has organic acids and antioxidants that are also important for health. They are a preventive factor that prevents the onset of cardiovascular and a number of cancers,” explained the specialist.

However, Kruglova recommends reducing consumption or completely abandoning pomegranate for people with diabetes mellitus and gastrointestinal pathologies. According to her, you can eat pomegranate in a state of persistent remission, but due to the fact that it contains simple carbohydrates, it is necessary to monitor the diet.

The expert stressed that the latter should be chosen between pomegranate juice and whole fruit, as the fruit contains dietary fibers that are beneficial to the body that are not found in juice.

“The juice contains a lot of organic acids and ascorbic acid, and in some cases this can cause discomfort in the digestive tract, so it is better to give it to children diluted,” Kruglova said in an interview with Sputnik Radio.
