The most popular railway routes among Russians during the New Year holidays were trips from Moscow to St. Petersburg and back. The top also included tickets from Krasnodar to Sochi and back.



— Most Russians plan to travel by train between Moscow and St. Petersburg: 7.2 percent of train tickets are booked from the federal capital to the northern capital, and 7.1 percent are booked back, analysts said.

Routes from Krasnodar to Sochi were the third most popular: 2.5 percent of Russians planned such trips. 2.4 percent of the country’s residents will take the return route.

Routes from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod and back, from Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Simferopol to the capital were among the top purchases of train tickets. Russians often buy tickets from Krasnodar to Moscow and back, from the capital to Voronezh and back, from Saratov, Belgorod, Bryansk and Yaroslavl to Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.
