Scientists have found out what kind of food exacerbates depression

For 14 years, researchers collected data on the diets of 32,000 middle-aged women. Every four years, people were asked what they ate, when, and how much they ate. As a result, they were divided into five groups depending on how much fast food and soda are included in their diet.

Scientists considered fast food not only food from well-known fast food chains, but also chips, frozen ready-made meals and drinks with sweeteners. Such products include, for example, corn syrup and chemical additives that can cause obesity and diabetes.

Scientists have identified more than 2,000 cases of depression in women from the group with high levels of fast food consumption. It turned out that their diet contains a lot of products with artificial sweeteners.

Lead researcher Andrew Chan said that people who have mental health problems need to eat more fresh produce and cook on their own.
