Margarita Arzumanyan, PhD, nutritionist, named the healthiest sauce in an interview with Sputnik Radio.



According to her, the healthiest sauce is the one made at home. She added that the mayonnaise necessary for making salads is high in calories, while its traditional recipe contains virtually no ingredients harmful to health.

The specialist stressed that to make home-made mayonnaise, you will need vegetable oil, yolk, lemon juice, mustard, a small amount of salt and sugar.

However, industrial sauce may contain excess salt and various nutritional supplements, said the nutritionist.

Arzumanyan added that purchased ketchup may also contain excess salt, dietary supplements and starch for the body. According to her, if you make tomato sauce yourself, you will get a completely different product. She added that any homemade sauce will be superior to a store-bought analogue.
